In the tradition of the music program Austin City Limits a Public Broadcast Service mega successful music show that captured the eyes and ears of a pre MTV generation in Austin Texas, Newport is getting the chance to capture the eyes and ears of a post MTV generation. Since 1976 PBS has been producing the Texas music scene with the artists that have shaped American music. The New Year 2011 will bring to the air ways Newport City Limits. This show co-produced by STAGERight, Summing Point and Video & Vision and sponsored by Jimmy’s Saloon will showcase the artists, stories and music of Newport Rhode Island and beyond. Production has started to produce three shows that will feature the bands We Own Land, The Diepods and Cliffs N’ Bangers. NCL will be a half hour show hosted by Tom C. Erb that will be filmed at Jimmy’s Saloon and Summing Point Recording Studios. Sound engineering and design by Scott Rancourt and video/editing by Rocco Michaluk and Greg Hall. The show will be broadcast on Newport City Limits & Newport Arts Scene Radio Hour Podcast, local Public Access Channel 18, statewide Public Access Channel 13 and the Newport City Limits YouTube channel. Additional broadcasting opportunities are being perused. The format for the interviews is intimate and informative, and the live performances filmed at Jimmy’s Saloon will be open to the public and audience is encouraged to interact. The first filming will take place on Wednesday December 8th at 8pm. This will be a rare opportunity to see We Own Land, The Diepods and Cliffs and Bangers on the same stage on the same night. NCL will establish regular filming dates that will be the second and forth Wednesday of the month beginning in January. STAGERight is encouraging all original bands, soloist, duets of any style of music in Newport, Aquidneck Island and the State of Rhode Island to contact us to be considered for a showcase production. NCL is holding a contest that wins front seats to the first filming of Newport City Limits Wednesday on December 8th.
